Make it Count Monday - Vol. 4

A link-up of Goals and Accomplishments!

Happy Monday! The fourth week of Make It Count Mondays, to be exact! It's exciting to realize that it's been nearly one month since the beginning of this deliberate goal-setting process. I'm not sure whether I've actually done much more than I was doing before, but everything I have done has been with a greater focus throughout each day. Which is half the battle (at least for me)! So cheers to becoming slightly more self-aware, and here's to an even better start to month two!

Evaluation from last week: My goal of reconnecting with friends and family went very well--we had some great conversations and "quality"  time together, even though we were all separated by a few thousand miles. But it made me realize how many other amazing people I haven't spent time connecting with lately, so I'll have to make more time for them! Makes me thankful that I have that many wonderful people in my life. My goal of spending some quality time with the kids went okay, although I could have invested a lot more time and creativity and participated a little more. As for trying to 'unplug'--I'm still struggling significantly with that one...it's much harder than I'd like to admit. Re-focusing this week!

Fitting, no?

~MOTIVATION~
What did I accomplish last week?
As I mentioned, I got to talk with a lot of wonderful people this past week. I also spent some concentrated time in potty-training (a certain three-year-old has finally conceded to trying it!). Activities with the kids included making igloos and forts out of blankets, raking and jumping in leaves, having a "campout" (turning off all of the lights and waving flashlights around), and working on letters and shapes with my pre-schooler. I also did lots of writing, worked on a few submissions, and am excited to share that my first guest post is being published today! It's featured on the site Ms.MommyHH6, a fantastic place for both military and special needs moms to share, connect, and get some great mom advice. The publication is an adaptation of the post When Life is Fleeting about child loss, and it will be the first installment of a three-part series on "How to Help a Hurting Friend." On that note, since today is Pregnancy and Child Loss Awareness Day (and this whole month is dedicated to awareness), please feel free to join in the "Wave of Light" that happens every October 15th. Simply light a candle tonight at 7pm (your time) in memory of a little soul who is loved and missed. When you do, you'll be part of the "Wave of Light" that will illuminate our world today with love for our children!

~DIRECTION~
What's my goal for this week?
As for this week, I'm going to give this whole perseverance thing a try and work again on "unplugging." I have a feeling that it'll help those quality time activities with the kids become a little more meaningful. Oh, and I also plan on regaining control of the laundry this week!

~ACCOUNTABILITY~
What steps will I take to move toward that goal?
I'm going to force myself to close the computer during non-approved times. And I'll be removing all social media apps from my phone's home screen so I actually have to think about what I'm doing when I start mindlessly logging on to check Facebook or Pinterest. (In fact, I just removed them so I wouldn't put it off any longer. It was painful). As far as the laundry, I'm shooting for at least one load a day. And I already got a head start today with the baby's bedding since I found him gallivanting around his crib this morning sans diaper. Fun times!

NOW IT'S YOUR TURN!

  1. Motivation: As awesome as social media can be, I really need to be mindful of how much time I spend "plugged in" also! My phone battery dies at least once a day, so I definitely could use my phone less. Also, I still need to work on getting up before my kids so I can shower before naptime!
Direction: Set my alarm for 6:30 so I can get up. Limit phone time to 5 minutes at a time.
Accountability: Charge phone battery during the night, and try not to need to charge it again. Set timer on phone while using it.
I love starting off the week with a goal, thank you! Happy Monday!

    1. My phone battery is definitely on the same life cycle as yours!
I hope that you had an awesome week and your unplugging/waking up went well...hopefully even better than mine;) I'd love to hear how the 5 min time limit and alarm worked for you!
