Make It Count Monday - Vol. 11

Written and published on December 3rd, 2012. Archived to previous year.
A link-up of Goals and Accomplishments!

Evaluation from last week: Well, I got my Christmas cards (mostly!)  finished. I got the pictures, wrote the letter, and made our printer do a WHOLE lot of work. Now I just have to stuff envelopes and address them all. And so far I haven't been too stressed--hopefully I can keep it that way!

~MOTIVATION~
What did I accomplish last week?
This week went slightly differently than planned...I don't relish taking three kids to the doctor during naptime, but we ruled out strep throat and they were perfectly fine and chipper as ever by the end of the week. And the trip to the doctor's office was a definite accomplishment! I also did the Christmas card thing, went to a meeting, and had a full weekend with a holiday party at our local historic mansion (pretty cool!) and a fabulous "Friendsgiving" with our amazing new family of friends. I also closed out the weekend doing a family photo shoot for our friends at the historic mansion--it was a beautiful setting and so much fun!

~DIRECTION~
What's my goal for this week?
We have a few big Christmas projects for the kids; one is to create a reading corner for them similar to this one. Growing up, I was a bookworm to a fault; I still love to read and I love that our kids love to read, too. So I think there's no better gift than a place for us all to bask in the joy of reading together! Although I must admit that our collection of books has been pretty much obliterated by three toddlers, and I always seem to strike out at the library with books that seem like they should be good...but I end up re-writing them all in my head. So we might have to stock up again soon on some kids' classics--feel free to recommend your

favorites! I've gotten the fabric for the reading corner already, so this week I'd like to figure out the exact pattern and measurements so I can get to work. And also figure out exactly when and where I'm going to sew everything since my machine quit on me awhile ago! I've got plenty of ideas, though. My other obvious goal is to address and send out those Christmas cards! For some reason I am horrible at this part; I never get a good assembly line down, I always manage to forget the golden rule of "always put the stamp on last!" and ultimately I end up wasting far too many envelopes because I messed up some name or address along the way. So I'll have to work on keeping the stress to a minimum on that, too!

~ACCOUNTABILITY~
What steps will I take to move toward that goal?
I'm starting on the parade of addresses today for the Christmas cards. That way I'll have a forced reminder all week to have them in the mail by Saturday. As for the reading corner, I've got some time set aside tomorrow to get everything measured...hopefully naptime will go as planned so I can get it done!
