Blessed Is She
"I'm thinking of starting a devotional site for women based on each day's scripture readings," she said. "Women writing for women, in the trenches of life together supporting each other and reflecting on God's word."
She asked if I'd like to be part of it, and I was honored to jump on board immediately. The prudent freelancer in me will write the spectrum, of course, but this is the kind of niche writing I've always dreamed of. I couldn't wait to start writing and sharing devotions along with the other unbelievably talented and faithful women on the team. It seemed like the launch date for the devotions--September 1st--was so far away!
In the mean time, Jenna set up the website, Facebook page, Twitter account, Pinterest account, and we also got going on Instagram with some beautiful images and mini reflections.
For those of you who are reading about our ministry now for the first time, and are interested in following or knowing more, here's the scoop!
What exactly is Blessed Is She?
Blessed Is She is a ministry. It's devotions from women, for women. Our devotions are based on daily scripture readings from the church calendar. (The daily readings usually consist of an Old Testament reading, a Psalm, and a Gospel reading, all somehow related to each other in theme or significance. Over a cycle of three years, the daily readings will cover the entire Bible). The goal of Blessed Is She is to grow in faith by reflecting on God's daily word through these readings and supporting each other in community.
How Does It Work?
You can:
There are some awesome developments new in the works too: A weekly newsletter, a series of devotions focusing on the gospel of Luke (coming up in next month's daily readings), some extra-special Marian devotions once a week in October, and reflections based on the church's liturgical seasons as we go through Advent, Christmas, Lent, and beyond.
Finally, if you do the Twitter thing (better than I do, at least!), then our founder, Jenna, will be hosting a Twitter Chat tonight at 9pm Eastern Time for anyone who wants to chat, ask questions, or just have fun "hanging out" with a bunch of other women of faith.
I am so excited to be a part of Blessed Is She, and I'm so excited to finally share it with you all. Have a fabulous Labor Day, and I hope to see you around the Blessed Is She community soon!

Within a week, her little vision had blossomed into something pretty bold. The followers kept flowing in and we had clearly underestimated the overwhelming response we'd get--all of it long before we ever published a single devotion! It's been a wild and rewarding ride thus far, and I'm so excited to see where God will take us as we roll out our main mission of daily devotions starting today!
For those of you who have already been following and interacting in our community, you have no idea how grateful we are for you. It's such a blessing to get to know such a beautiful, diverse, (international even!) community. I've loved following your Instagram feeds and praying for and with you so much already this summer! I hope you love receiving and reading the devotions, too--have I mentioned that they start TODAY?! [Excuse me while I go run amok for awhile in excitement].

Of note: This is a non-profit ministry--no selling stuff /services involved. We're in it for the passion and nothing more! We just want to share and connect with other women for love of our faith and our God.
(If you feel so inspired, you can donate via the website to help cover small necessities such as monthly operating costs. But anything above and beyond goes straight to charity!).
