{GIVEAWAY!} Blessed Is She Lent Workbook

------ AND THE RANDOM WINNER IS... MARIE! ------

Thanks to all who entered, I really wish I had enough workbooks for all of you!!!
Sadly, Blessed is She is SOLD OUT of the hardcopy workbooks (they re-ordered and sold out three times!) and are no longer able to order more in time for Lent.

But you can still order a digital download copy to print for yourself! Just click here and select "SHOP" from the menu at the top.

Blessings to all!

Can you believe that Lent is just around the corner? I swear we just took down the Christmas tree. And let's not talk about those boxes of decorations still crowding the living room. But Lent will be here in less than three weeks whether we're ready (or my decorations have made it back to the basement) or not. Eeek!

Thankfully, Blessed Is She is one step ahead of us with a beautiful new and incredibly well put-together Lenten workbook:

But first, let's talk about goals for Lent...because I need to get my head in the game. And maybe you do too.

There are years I choose to give up something tangible for Lent. Other years, I'll try and add stuff to my routine like prayer or formative reading. Both disciplines are good and helpful for different reasons...but with all the craziness around here recently, I've been blessed with a rare moment of clarity. For Lent this year I'm not going to worry about adding, and I'm not going to take away. I'm going to redirect. I have precious little time with my Maker as it is, only a few minutes each day to focus on the most important things. So I'm going to work on setting myself up for success and get the most bang for my buck, so to speak, during that time.

What will that look like?

Well, currently my [meager] daily dose of soul time consists of a grabbing a few minutes of quiet time in the chapel on my way back from dropping the kids off at school, as well as grace before meals and bedtime prayers with the kids. For me, I think "redirecting" in these areas translates to finding ways to minimize distractions and the wandering of my mind--putting the phone down, bringing myself back to the present as many times as I catch my mind wandering away--so I can maximize my ability to reflect, gain peace, and reconnect in a more meaningful way during those precious and fleeting moments.

Which brings us to the workbook. As soon as I previewed our Blessed Is She Lenten Workbook this year, I did a happy dance. I knew it would be the perfect tool to help me redirect and stay focused during my quiet time. I'm seriously so stoked about it that <nerd alert> I wish Lent would start tomorrow. I can just envision myself sitting in the pew with the workbook perched on my lap, so engrossed in journaling and guided reflection that I won't want to tear myself away.

Now, before this starts to sound all butterflies-and-roses-and-product placement-y, I'll mention as I have before that I'm not really a "giveaway" type of blogger.  That said, I do love to share when I've found something I think is worth my while. In this case, it's a really effective way to embrace spiritual growth. I know from experience how much thought and care went into this workbook to make it a truly enriching Lenten companion. And I want to be able to share that richness with someone else. So I ordered an extra workbook in the hopes that one of you can benefit from it as much as I expect to.

Disclaimer: I did, of course, get excited enough about the BIS Advent journal like a year ago to host the one and only other giveaway of my writing career...so depending on how this Lent goes with the workbook, I may just end up eating my words and find myself perpetuating a Lent/Advent giveaway tradition. But don't hold your breath. Wink face.

Wishing you all a blessed and fruitful Lent, and a (hopefully) Christmas-free home by the time it arrives! And now...for the part you've all been waiting for!

  7. Hi there! Well, gosh, I guess I'm glad to have become your FB friend so I could be a part of this giveaway! ;) But I really like your idea about re-directing... like another commenter said above I've always balked at "giving up something" for Lent. And for the past few years, I've excused myself from it because I was either breastfeeding or pregnant (or both). I don't think I get to excuse myself anymore! :) I think the workbook would be great in helping keep me on track during Lent. (fingers crossed!)

  10. Redirecting is a great idea. I have been intending to get a day of daily Mass into my week for the last few...months. Or at least a visit to the church before work. This Lent, I think I will focus on making that happen. Then hopefully it will be a habit for after Lent, too. :)

  24. Because I can't fast or give up meat during Lent (need the nutrients in my already restricted diet; I've had bad experience with fish the last couple of times I tried eating it), I usually add things to do (i.e. Prayers, daily Mass, daily act of charity). I try to give up something extra that isn't necessary but sometimes hard for me. Past years have included social media, certain foods, makeup, soccer (massive sacrifice for me at the time). I think I'm going with an even more restricted social media daily (or weekly) schedule, giving up negative thoughts, and daily Mass.
