Some Good News

So many events this week have been all sorts of rough and unforgiving in our world. But the ugliness that has come out of it all... woah buddy . Even more terrible and unforgiving. It's clear that for some reason there's been a huge shift in how we allow tragedies to shape us--ten, fifteen years ago when tragedy struck, most of us allowed it to remind us of what was most important, we allowed it to bring out the best in us, we allowed it to unite us despite our differences, we used it to give birth to important, thoughtful discussions. In our current culture, tragedy seems to ignite the opposite in us; it's become a catalyst for blaming and jumping on platforms, bitterly tearing each other down for no good reason, and in sum, turning ourselves as Americans against each other. This reality has run especially rampant this week, and I was tired of being continually sucked into the negativity in a thousand different ways--to the point where I deleted some apps and b
