Pray for Peace with Me
Peace begins with us. It is determined by our internal reactions to the world, in our outward response to others, and most organically in the choice to look beyond ourselves and love those most different from us.
Let us pray and commit more fervently today than ever to be the ones to accept God's call to love, to restore each other's dignity, to sow love and plant peace in our shattered world.
Will you pray with me now?
Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
It is in dying to self that we are born to eternal life.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
It is in dying to self that we are born to eternal life.
-The Prayer of St. Francis
If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.
