- Giveaway - Blessed is She Advent Journal 2017
CLOSED!
Congrats to our winner, Elisabeth S.!
ADVENT.
It arrives in two weeks, people.
I have been waiting for Advent for {seemingly} ever this year, and we are FINALLY so close I can feel it.
The reason I've been waiting so impatiently is, of course, the gorgeous Blessed is She Advent journal - a devotional called In the Beginning designed by Erica Tighe and written by Laura Fanucci, which invites us into that sacred, anticipation-filled "beginning"-- the origin of our being, the beginning of our faith journey, the gift of new life and a new year and new possibilities.
Laura takes us through the beginning of each Gospel in a soul-stirring new way, and having snuck (more than) a few peeks, I can tell you that I.cannot.wait. for this journey!
I also happen to have the inside scoop that this year, everyone with a journal will be able to participate and share the journey in a beautiful new way, together. It's gonna be amazing.
So to celebrate, I have a little gift from me to you . . .

What's your favorite Advent Tradition (or one you'd like to start?)
ReplyDeleteAnswer below!
Reading "The Trees Kneel at Christmas"!
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of this one, I'll have to add it to our list!
DeleteThis will be our first Advent as a married couple, and are hoping to find some meaningful traditions to start this year, that we can continue with our kids in the future. We are unsure at this point what that new advent tradition will be, but we have been gathering suggestions and are hopeful! It helps to hear what great traditions other have developed over the years!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Some great ideas here. Prayers for a blessed first season together :)
DeleteI work in ministry at Notre Dame and each year creches from around the world visit our campus. There is an advent liturgical pilgrimage around campus each year to visit the crèches and hear the stories behind them. It is a wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThis is just beautiful!
DeleteI agree with Anna! It is also my first married Christmas, with my newly Catholic husband, so I would love to be able to create some new Advent traditions together. First on my list is making an advent wreath!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to you both and welcome home to your hubby!
DeleteOne of my favorite Advent traditions is reading the “little blue book” as a family each year. My church hands out the “little liturgical books” several times a year, and I love discussing the advent reflections with my family and hearing the insights they each gained from the reflections.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great way to keep the whole family involved!
DeleteA friend and I made our own Advent calendars a couple of years ago, and each day has a different prayer, quote, or reflection. My husband and I [try to] sit down each night and reflect on it for a few minutes, and we actually just tonight decided to make sure we spend 10 minutes each night, with our Advent wreath, in family prayer...as we continue to discuss what kinds of Advent traditions we want to incorporate for our family in the years to come!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun project! I'd love to see pics sometime :)
DeleteMy parents made the Jesse tree part of our advent preparation every year. Now, as a Catholic school teacher, I do the same thing!
ReplyDeleteThe Jesse tree is such a great tradition!
DeleteWhen my children were little, we had a reading of a waiting themed children’s book every Sunday after lighting the Advent candle. Their favorite was “The Angel with the Mouth Organ.”
ReplyDeleteI've not heard of this one either! I'll have to look for it!
DeleteI would love to be able to journey with Mary thru Advent. Reflect on what it truly means with the woman who experienced the birth first hand.
ReplyDeleteBeing pregnant this advent (and due around Christmas!) has made me reflect on Mary’s perspective for the days (and months) leading up to Christmas.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't that bring you into the reality of the season in a whole new way? So beautiful!
DeleteI try to spend more time with our Blessed Mother, and experience her anticipation and joy! I have been pregnant at Advent three different times, so I think that's almost a tradition, hahaha!
ReplyDeleteThis is hilarious! And all-around awesome. Such a beautiful theme to reflect upon
DeleteJesse tree! I finally have the ornaments, so I just need to do it!
ReplyDeleteHooray! Jesse trees are awesome!
DeleteI'm going to finally make Jesse tree ornaments this year! And then use them, with family Bible readings, God willing.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great project! I can't wait to see your handiwork.
DeleteEveryday we do our advent calendar and there is a small activity for us to do as a family!
ReplyDeleteIt's so great to have something that includes the whole family like this. I'm sure the kids will love and remember it for years to come!
DeleteI love going to midnight Mass at my church, the church is decorated so beautifully and I love the idea of staying up til the day of Jesus’s birth
ReplyDeleteAgreed! And keeping vigil with St. Joseph and the Blessed Mother is such beautiful perspective.
DeleteI would love to start a tradition of singing Christmas music outdoors with our Church/community in the center of our town! It truly warms my heart to sing and listen to our Lord’s sweet hymns and I would love to share that joy with everyone this advent season!
ReplyDeleteYes! Caroling needs to make a comeback!
DeleteI am so tempted to buy that Bible for myself but I already have like 4! lol.
ReplyDeleteRight?! I'm so cautious with my other ones so I'm excited to be able to *really* use this journaling Bible fora alllll the notes and to dig in to studies.
DeleteOur favorite Advent tradition is setting up the Advent wreath and lighting the candles and praying.
ReplyDeleteWe try to do this regularly every year too--I'm hoping to make it more of a priority!
DeleteWe try to pray one decade of the rosary by our advent wreath.
ReplyDeleteAwesome!
DeleteI have always wanted to start the Jesse Tree tradition with my sons.
ReplyDeleteYes! It is such a good tradition and I always love re-learning all the symbolism and connections I've forgotten.
DeleteWe're Polish and we have a Wigilia dinner party and share opłatek during dinner. I love this tradition and passing down to my kids.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds fantastic! I must learn more :)
